Customer Review:Somewhat effective and pleasant detergent.I have used this detergent for several months with my Hoover Steamvac and generally like it quite a bit. It is relatively poor at doing much with stains, particularly those that have been in the carpet for a long time (but then again, aren't they all poor at that?), but for traffic lanes where there is a lot of dirt and/or grease, if you take your time and go over it a few times, it is a very good product. I will say that sometimes you have to give it a little time too. I have broken down seemingly impossibly dark areas with this shampoo, although the first pass seemed to do very little, and quickly going over it seemed to only work slowly. So, if all else fails let the water/detergent sit on the area for a little while while you work on another area and then go over it again and see if that helps. It has for me, and I have removed stains with this detergent I really did not think I would be able to.
There are a couple of things that make me give it a four instead of three, which I would give it based on its cleaning ability. The first is the smell. It is very, very pleasant and I have had several comments on how wonderful the carpets smelled after using it. It is the best smelling detergent I have ever used, and I have worked with several. The other "plus" is that it is easy to remove from the carpet. After I use the detergent, I do at least one "rinse" application where I just use water to get up the residue of chemicals I left behind. With this detergent, it comes up very easily and does not require repeated applications, whereas with many others you must do the same areas many, many times to get all the residue from the carpet.
One last area I want to bring up is "browning". Some chemicals used on carpets have an unpleasant tendency to turn your carpet brown as the chemicals dry on the carpet. To give you an example, I did a carpet and it was quite clean, with few stains remaining. A few days later, I had monstrous brown stains in a few spots on the carpet. I had used several stain removers to help with spots, and these were apparently the cause. So, I went over it again with water to remove the browning, but once again they came back when it dried, seemingly almost with the same intensity. Intuitively, I disliked adding more residue by using the detergent, but I figured water was not working so I had nothing to lose(and as I mentioned, this detergent has no residue problem). I used this detergent and apparently it helped remove the other chemicals much more effectively and eliminated the browning problem I was having. Also, this chemical does not cause browning at all. It was some other chemical I used for the stains (I used too many to know which one).
The only reason I am not giving this a five is because I do not want to give the impression that this is some kind of super cleaner and give false expectations. It does work pretty well, and is a very agreeable shampoo to work with, both in odor and ease in which it comes out of the carpet. Overall I like it very much and will continue to purchase it as I need it. I probably would even if it did not clean at all, it smells so good.

Farberware 3-Piece Wood Cutting Board SetWith grooved channels to catch juices for making sauces and, these three inexpensive cutting boards are ideal for carving roasts and poultry. The boards' rounded edges make them unusually attractive for serving at table. Plus, they flip over to provide flat sides to prep vegetables or slice and serve bread. Because the set consists of a large, medium, and small board, all cutting and carving needs are satisfied. The large board measures 17-1/2 by 11-1/2 inches, the medium is 11-1/2 by 9 inches, and the small is 8-3/4 by 6-1/2 inches. Made of farm-grown hardwood (no forest trees involved), the 5/8-inch-thick boards are sealed with food-grade mineral oil so they won't dry out. Wipe them clean with soapy water and dry and they will last several lifetimes. --Fred Brack

Customer Review:Great set !Very nice.....Use a couple in our travel trailer, and the other in the house. Made very well. Good!Yes, when it is soaked in water for a long time, it wraps. But when it becomes dry after a few days, it is flat again. It's worth every penny Started With 3, Down to 1 ("you get what you pay for")My wife and I received these as a wedding present about 2 years ago. Out of the package they looked nice, worked well, and cleaned up as well as any wooden cutting board does. The three sizes were generally pretty practical, but the small one is a little too small. Keep in mind that these are not the high quality end-grain blocks you see laid into kitchen islands or big butcher's blocks. These are side-grain blocks that are pretty thin and prone to splitting.
After about six months of use, the medium board cracked into two pieces and had to be thrown away. It was the one that we used most often, but it was never abused.
Six months later again, the big one cracked as well. It also had to be tossed. Now we are down to the tiny one, which is only really useful for cutting up one piece of fruit at a time, and really isn't suitable for chopping veggies because the pieces inevitably fall off the sides.
Like I said, we never abused or dropped them. We did put them in the dishwasher, which probably was the problem--but I think that any cutting board worth owning should withstand DW cleaning. Now that I am confident that the DW did them in, our last little one only gets hand-cleaned, but I still worry about it being thoroughly sanitized.
I had to go out and buy a large poly cutting board for about $5 to replace the broken ones. I wish I had just bought two of those in the first place. The poly ones aren't as pretty but they sure work a lot better. They clean easier and more confidently and they are DW safe. When was the last time you saw a commercial/restaraunt kitchen that didn't use poly? Take it from the pros--use poly. I wish I had started out using it. Circulon Classic 5-Quart Pasta Pot with Straining Lid
Circulon; | George Foreman GR26CB Family Size Plus Grill with Cookbook, White
George Foreman; |
Circulon Classic 5-Quart Pasta Pot with Straining LidA clever two-in-one idea, this Circulon Classic 5-quart pasta pot comes with its own built-in colander in the lid. When pasta is finished, you simply tilt the pot and drain to either side. The pot also comes in handy for boiling or parboiling potatoes and carrots. Constructed from hard-anodized aluminum, the pot is twice as hard as stainless steel and built to conduct quickly and even. The interior, outfitted with Circulon's signature Hi-Low grooves and Dupont Autograph nonstick coating, ensures easy food release and clean-up. The grooves are designed to protect the nonstick coating and keep food from sticking. Domed for maximum capacity, the 18/10 stainless-steel lid fits securely and has a gleaming mirror finish. The non-slip phenolic loop handles on the sides and lid are permanently riveted, heat-resistant on the stovetop, and oven-safe to 350 degrees F. Notable for its balance, the pot is pleasantly weighty without being too heavy to handle. Washing by hand is recommended for the best results. --Emily Bedard

Customer Review:Great size, not goo big, not too small. GREAT POT!!!I really LOVE this pot. It's such a great size for my family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids under 5yrs). It sits PERFECT on the back burners. (after the kids, I only cook on the back burners, just in case. :) I love the fact the lid locks into the pot. I received the pot for about 10 days now, and I have been using it almost everyday! I even used it as a wok to cook Chinese stir fry, and no problem at all! I purchased the pot when it was on sale at Amazon.com for under $22, so I know I got a GREAT DEAL. Another 5 star reviewAfter reading the other reviews on this pot, I found a cheaper price and bought it at Linen's and Things with 20% off coupon. I have only good things to say-it is well made, cleans up easily, locking lid works well, and it is so nice not having to use a separate colander! I use it at least two times a week. This would make a great gift as it is *much* nicer than the cheapie pasta pots that were all the rage a couple of years ago. Great PotI recently bought this pot and am in love. The straining feature is so convenient. No more carrying hot pots and draining in colanders. Food cooks evenly and cleans up easily. The locking lid allows you to serve food at the table and even store things in the fridge. I highly recommend this pot. George Foreman GR26CB Family Size Plus Grill with Cookbook, WhiteWith nonstick cooking surfaces measuring 9 inches square, this family-size version of the celebrated George Foreman Lean Mean Fat- Reducing Grilling Machine grills four or five burgers or chicken breasts at once. The electric appliance's appeal lies in its simplicity and countertop convenience--not to mention its fat-fighting ability. The double-sided grill cooks burgers, steaks, chicken, sausage, fish, shrimp, and vegetables top and bottom in minutes. Grill marks not only look appetizing, they contribute caramelized flavor. The bottom grill's deep grooves collect fat, and the grill is sloped so the fat runs off into a dishwasher-safe plastic tray (two included) stationed under the unit's front. Because the grill is nonstick, cleanup is a snap: a quick scrape with a plastic spatula (two included) and a quick wipe with a paper towel or a sponge. Accompanying the grill is a 227-page cookbook containing recipes for such lip-smacking dishes as Halibut with Avocado Lemon Cream, Dijon Flank Steak, New Orleans Pork Ribs, Stuffed Green Chile Burgers, and Garlic Stuffed Red Potatoes. Overall, the grill measures 10-1/2 inches wide, 13 inches deep, and 6-1/2 inches high, and is clad in hard, gleaming, white plastic for a sleek appearance. --Fred Brack

Customer Review:lovely grill. i adore George.A bit bulky, but other than that it's a lovely grill. Get one and enjoy! LOVE IT!I love the Foreman Grill, I use it constantly & tell everyone I know to buy one. I am intimidated by the BBQ, but with this grill I feel like I am eating BBQ, only I cooked it on my kitchen counter.
The only thing I am not happy about it is I wish it was the one with the removable grills. Sometimes it's a little hard to clean. I recommend spraying it with olive oil. I would totally buy this again, I think it's great! Lean, Mean, and Simple to UseThis family- sized grill makes a nice alternative for cooking hamburgers, steaks, chicken, pork chops, other meats, and even vegetables. Promoted by former boxing champ George Foreman, this grill can cook up to five hamburgers (or several pieces of other food items) on its non- stick surface.
Fat drains away from foods and is collected in a small tray that is placed at the front of the grill. The way the food is cooked (top and bottom at once) tends to make it more juicy and flavorful- not quite as good as cooking on a charcoal grill, but better than most other preparation methods. You need to be careful with the drip trays, however, because they are not very big and it's common to overflow the trays if a large amount of food is cooked at once, like several hamburgers.
Cleanup is simple with this grill provided you start the process as soon as possible (once it has cooled) after you finishing cooking. If you start cleaning fast enough, the cleanup is a breeze. You can wipe it off with a sponge or paper towel. But if the food has had a chance to dry, it will take a little more elbow grease to break loose. The fact that the surface is non- stick isn't true in the literal sense. The food will still stick if the dirty grill is left sitting for a long period of time.
This grill, like other George Foreman Grills, is a simple device. There are no heat settings or other means to adjust the cooking. You plug it in, wait for the orange light to go off (indicating the unit is warmed up), place food in the grill, close the lid, and wait about five to ten minutes for it to finish. The easy operation makes it very practical, but it also makes it less appealing for more those with more advanced culinary skills. Those who enjoy cooking will consider this device too elementary and lacking in sophistication to take seriously.
This George Foreman model has a few minor annoyances, but I still like it and will continue to use it for the foreseeable future. It makes better tasting food than what you get from skillet preparation and the ease of use makes it second to none for grilling burgers and other meats.
